Orientation for Students and Parents
>Student Flight Academy: Flight Academy 2008 for Rising 9th Graders and new students is scheduled for Tuesday, August 12. There are two sessions. Session I will run from 8:00am-11:00 am for students whose last name begins with A-J. Session II will run from 1:00 pm-4:30 pm for students whose last name begins K-Z.

>Parent Flight Academy: All new and returning parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to attend the Flight Academy for Parents. Topics to discuss are HSHS Expectations, H.O.T. Lunch, Student Services, Graduation Project and the Instructional Calendar.
There will be two sessions scheduled for parents on two days. Parents should attend only one session. See dates and times below:
Tuesday, August 12 at 8:00 am and 6:00 pm
Thursday, August 14 at 8:00 am and 6:00 pm
**New** Fines/Fees:
In order to purchase parking and lunch passes ALL student fines must be paid in full. Junior and Seniors will be afforded another opportunity to pay fine/fees before August 12, the second distribution for Parking Passes. The last opportunity before school starts to clear fines are: Monday, August 4 - Wednesday, August 6. These dates are not negotiable. Students and parents need to be aware of the instructions and regulations for these privileges.

>Lunch Permit: School photos will be used for lunch permits. Students with no school photo on file will receive lunch permits after school begins. Lunch Permits will be distributed at the times listed below.

Last names ending in A – M (9:00 – 10:00)
Last names ending in N – Z (1:00 – 2:00)
Juniors-Wednesday, August 20
Last names ending in A – M (9:00 – 10:00)
Last names ending in N – Z (1:00 – 2:00)
>Drivers Ed: Students registered for summer classes need to be aware of changes in location of the July and August classes. For class list, location, and contact information go to the Student Web site.
Be sure to have the following items with you when going to validate your Eligibility Certificate:
1. A parent to sign Driving Eligibility Certificate
2. Driver Education Certificate
3. Certified Birth Certificate
4. Copy of the previous semester’s report card with FINAL grades.
If you do not have your report card at the time you are obtainingyour DEC, students may pick up completed certificate the next day.
>HSHS Sports: Students interested in participating in sports need to contact athletic coaches to find out about try-out dates, practice schedules and basic requirements. A list of team sports and coaches can be found on the HSHS Athletics Web site.
